PSP Audioware Vintage Warmer
הדמיית סאונד של טייפ אנלוגי (הרווית הצליל) + קומרפסר/לימיטר. תוספי תוכנה (פלאג-אין'ס) מעולם לא היו כוס התה שלי. הם ניפחו, הזיזו, שינו.. ולרוב לרעה. לעיתים רחוקות נתקלתי בפלאג, אשר מהרגע שהשתמשתי בו, נכנס לשימוש קבוע אצלי. גם הפעם לא ציפיתי למשהו מיוחד; בעבר השתמשתי כבר ב"מדמים" למיניהם, אם זה הMagneto- של סטיינברג או ה-MicMod של אנטרס, אשר בלשון המעטה פשוט לא מצאו את מקומם אצלי במחשב.
אבל הסתבר לי שאפשר גם לטעות.
וינטאג' היה תמיד שם נרדף להנאות סאונד מן העבר, היכן שדיגיטל עוד היה מונח לא ידוע. מהרגע שהתחום הדיגיטלי החל להתפשט בכל נישה בה בוקע צליל, בו בזמן נעשה נסיון רצוף ועיקש להחזיר את הצליל המתוק, הנעים והשלם של מכשירים מתחילת התקופה. זה אולי נשמע מוזר לצעירים, אך אצל בני 30 ומעלה זה ברשימת החלומות הרטובים של עושר צלילי וחום אורלי. בנקודה זו, ה-VintageWarmer מהווה סימולציה של קומפרסור/לימיטר משובח, רב-אפיקי, עם רווית סאונד אותנטית זמינה בכל רגע.

ממשק משתמש ונוחות עבודה
הדבר הראשון שמרשים ב-VW הוא ממשק המשתמש (Interface) שלו. מבחינת עבודה, אין ספק שכיף יותר לעבוד עם ממשק יפה ומכובד, שגם מקרין רצינות למשתמש. הממשק של ה-VW בנוי בצורה מעוררת השראה. ממש כמו וינטאג' אמיתי. תענוג.
11 כפתורי סיבוביים, חיווי VU/PPM אותנטי (עם תאורה אחורית ואפילו 'משופשף משימוש'), ווסתי שליטה, כמו Drive, Knee ו-Release (ראה תמונה של חזית ואחורי המכשיר). לחיצה על לוגו החברה גורמת למעבד להסתובב, שם, מאחור, ניתן לקבוע פרמטרים נוספים, כגון זמן תגובת ה-VU, ה-PPM, ה-EQ לרוויית סאונד (saturation), מהירות (של הטייפ) ועוד..
ציון: 9. ללא ספק אחד העיצובים היפים שראיתי לפלאג, נוח וכיף כאחד. הכפתורים מגרים אותך לגעת בהם! אופציות מובנות
PSP נתנו למשתמש כמעט את כל האופציות האפשריות, כך שרוב האחריות היא על המשתמש.
בנוסף הם גם הוסיפו פריסטים משלהם (29 במספר), לא רעים בכלל לעומת מה שהתרגלנו בפלגים אחרים, מה שמהווה בסיס מצויין להתחלת עבודה ללא שום עיכוב, והבנה מוחשית במה שהפלאג יכול לעשות ומה לא.
שלטי וויסות עיקריים:
Drive - קובע את כמות הרוויה, מ-24dB- עד ל-24dB+
Low - EQ לנמוכים בדרייב, מ-12dB- עד ל-12dB+
High - EQ לגבוהים בדרייב, מ-12dB- עד ל-12dB+
Knee - צורת ה"ברך" של הקומפרסור, במצב "0" משמש בעצם כ-BrickWall לימיטר (בדומה למקסימייזרים למיניהם).
כאן קצת התעצבנתי; אמנם כביכול-אנלוגי, אבל אי-אפשר להציב ערכים בהכנסה ישירה מהמקלדת, חייבים לסובב את הנובים, שלא תמיד מדוייקים.
עוד מתכונות הפלג עצמו, כפי שמצויין בחבילה:
- אלגוריתם איכותי לעיבוד צליל
- עיבוד חד או רב-אפיקי
- מסנני מידוף (shelf) עבור תדרים נמוכים או גבוהים במצב עיבוד חד-אפיקי
- שליטה במרכיבי הצליל הנמוכים והגבוהים בעיבוד רב-אפיקי
- שעוני חיווי VU ו-PPM (שיאי עוצמה) עם סמני עומס
- ספריית קביעות מצב מוכנות מראש
ציון: 7. יש עוד כמה דברים להוספה שממבט ראשון קפצו לי לראש, אבל לא נהיה קטנוניים.
"ברגע זה שמו של הפלאג קיבל את המשמעות האמיתית שלו - "מחמם וינטאג'"! וזו הנאה צרופה לגלות דברים כאלה מחדש." בתכל'ס - איך זה נשמע? למי זה טוב?
בגדול, נשמע טוב. לפעמים אפילו טוב מאוד. עדיין מונטוני ודיגיטלי בכמה מקרים, אבל זה עדיין פלאג, לא לשכוח.
משחק נכון עם הפרמטרים יביא לסאונד הרצוי (או, הקרוב לרצוי), אבל קל מאוד להיגרר לדיסטורשן שיהרוס הכל. יש לנהוג בו בזהירות יתר, כמו במכשיר "אמיתי", ולעקוב מקרוב שלא ישתולל לכם.
אחד היתרונות השימושיים היא היכולת להשתמש בו על ערוץ בודד, על מיקס שלם וגם כפעולה במסטרינג - והכל מבלי להרוס את הסאונד שבניתם (משהו שקורה עם הרבה פלאגאינים אחרים לצערי..)
יופי של סאונד זה הוציא לגיטרה (MusicMan Silhouette), כמו לשירה: חום ונפח, דיסטורשן מלטף, אבל עדיין לא הדבר האמיתי.
אבל היתרון הכי גדול שמצאתי לו, והיישום הטוב ביותר מבחינתי, היה בשימוש על דגימות, על Soft Synth ועל מודול דיגיטליים. לא ייאמן בכמה הפלאג הזה ישפר את החום של סינטי מהפולסר, של סמפלר , או של כלי הקשה מאחד המודולים שלך, פשוט מדהים!
לשמוע Rhodes (מסומפל) קר ומנוכר, ורגע אח"כ לשמוע את החום והנפח שהיה כל-כך חסר לו, איזה יופי! מתחיל להזכיר Rhodes אמיתי.. סאונדים חסרי צבע ותפלים מתחילים לקבל חיים.
ברגע זה שמו של הפלאג קיבל את המשמעות האמיתית שלו - "מחמם וינטאג'", וזו הנאה צרופה לגלות דברים כאלה מחדש!
מאז ומעולם לא אהבתי את הסאונד הדיגיטלי (כל הנ"ל) - הוא קר, ממוחשב ופשוט לא נשמע טוב,
אבל אם האולפן שלך כבר מתבסס על נתח דיגיטלי זה או אחר (החל מהקלטות ועד למודולים), או שיש פרוייקט דיגיטלית מסויים (ולמי אין?) ׀ הפלאג הזה יכול רק להוסיף לך, ולהחזיר עדנה לסאונד.
לבד מהעשרה והענקת חמימות לצליל דיגיטל צונן, ה-VintageWarmer מתאים ליישומי אולפן קבועים, כמו ייטוב החומר בזמן מיקס או גימור (מסטר), שיפור הרמוני לערוצים בודדים, עיצוב הדינמיקה של כלי נגינה בזמן הקלטה, וכמובן הענקת אפקט ה"טייפ" לערוץ בודד או על השיר כולו. ממתק אולפני.
הפלאג מגיע עם קובץ ספר הדרכה מפורט המסביר את השימוש בכפתורים השונים, ואף מציג דיאגרמות המדגימות את דרכי השימוש האולפני של המכשיר וטיפים ליישום בפועל. שווה בפני עצמו.
ציון: 8.5. עומד בייעוד ובמטרות של PSP, למרות שיש לו החלקות קטנות."ממתק אולפני". כל השאר
מבחינת CPU- במחשב שלי הוא תפס בינוני בשביל פלאג בתור VST (כ-7% מצריכת ה-CPU), בתור DirectX הוא תופס קצת יותר.
הוא יחסית יציב, למרות שפה ושם הוא "הקפיץ" לי את ה-CPU, אבל לא בצורה בלתי נסבלת.
בראיה של לפני/אחרי ׀ הפלאג שינה הרבה, הוסיף לפעמים חום ולפעמים ממש החייה סאונד מחדש, אם כי לפעמים הוא יכול להזיק. שימוש נכון + אוזן נכונה עשוי להעניק תוצאה רצויה ולחמם את האווירה. מסוכן יהיה לדרוש ממנו להיות אוטומטי. תחושה היא מילת המפתח, ועוזרת כנגדה האוזן כמובן.
אצלי הוא נכנס לשימוש כמעט קבוע, ואני מעריך שהוא יכול לשנות ולהוסיף אצל כל אחד.
לצערי אין מה לעשות, סאונד דיגיטלי נשאר סאונד דיגיטלי, אבל PSP קידמה אותנו לפחות בנושא החום בסאונד הזה.
מחיר -149$ באתר החברה, אולי קצת יקר בתקופתנו הקשה.ציון כללי: 8.5.

Ohm Force describe Ohmicide:Melohman as "that magic
box which makes you smile!"
Based on Predatohm's design, Ohmicide:Melohman is
organized around up to four frequency bands, each of
them coming with their own Noise Gate, Dynamic,
Distortion, Feedback Generator and all mixing
abilities with just a twist of pre- and post
-processing (distort input, high shelf output...).
The DSP is 100% different from Predatohm: the
compressor/expander works differently to fit well
with both the very sharp Noise Gate and the huge
amount of new distortions. Those are at the core of
Ohmicide. They're designed to offer pretty much
everything you can think of next to a lot of things
you can't. Some, like the tasty "Porridge" distortion
sounds deliciously analog, while the "Fractal" one is
harsh and digital as hell. Or you've got the very
dense "Accumulator" that can add low harmonics
instead of high.
All of these distortions are mainly new breeds - yet
the classics are also covered. They all are declined
(?) in three variations: normal, ampsim and odd. The
"Odd" one gives you control over the harmonics
frequency and allows for slightly detuned distortion.
Last but not least, Ohm Force has added a disto type
that was missing from Predatohm... No distortion. It
was an absolute need, considering how many things can
be done just by using the multiband dynamics!

The main display will change depending on which panel you are selecting. On the Voice panel the four waveforms of the currently playing note are directly displayed. On the Global panel the actual whole output waveform is plotted. And on the Waveshaper panel, you can edit the waveforms in real-time so you can really get the feel of the sound creation process. There is an extensive copy and paste algorithm, which enables you to copy either each panel, voice or whole (4 voices) instruments - this speeds up the sound creation process enormously, and also allows the user to use parts of different presets to make new ones.
